Turkey Tail — Naturalist Field Plate | Printable Mushroom Wall Art
Turkey Tail · Trametes versicolor
A museum-quality naturalist print of Turkey Tail, illustrated in the tradition of vintage natural history field guides — with accurate taxonomy, habitat, and true-to-life detail. Researched from trusted sources and composed with care.
Every Ashborn plate is built the way a naturalist would have wanted it: the correct order, family, genus and species; a faithful range map; and the details that reward a closer look — the banded concentric zones, the fine white pore surface beneath, the overlapping tiers on dead wood, and the false turkey tail it is confused with.
Edibility: Inedible — too tough to eat. Long used as a tea and extract. Versicolor means many-coloured, and no two brackets carry quite the same bands. Turn one over and there are no gills at all — only a surface of minute pores. It is a decomposer, breaking down the lignin in dead hardwood and returning a fallen tree to the forest floor.
